TRUE or FALSE
Getting enough Vitamin D may reduce the risk of
many kinds of cancer.
TRUE. Research increasingly supports this conclusion. Getting
enough vitamin D may reduce one’s risk of colon,
breast and ovarian cancers by up to 50%.
Studies have shown that indoor tanning customers
have higher vitamin D levels than non-tanners.
TRUE.
While indoor tanning industry is a cosmetic service, one undeniable
side-effect is vitamin D production. Research
shows that people who use indoor tanning
equipments that emits UVB-which most tanning
equipment does, also produce vitamin D.
New Research
shows that nearly 90% of North Americans don’t
get enough vitamin D. Can indoor tanning help
them increase their vitamin D production?
YES. Studies have shown that indoor tanning patrons have higher
vitamin D blood levels than non-tanners.
Can
humans get enough vitamin D through supplements
alone?
Probably Not.
Research suggests that humans make 90% of their vitamin D through
sun exposure.
Calcium needs vitamin D in order to aid in bone
maintenance.
Absolutely TRUE.
Getting enough calcium will help prevent osteoporosis and bone mass
loss, but ONLY if you get enough vitamin D,
which facilitates the absorption of calcium.
CLEAN THAT EYEWEAR
Why do the Sales
Associates tell me to disinfect my eyewear?
Even if somebody
is the sole user of personal eyewear, the sweat,
dirt, old skin and make-up residue can breed
bacteria.
You can disinfect
eyewear by using hot soapy water, or by using
the sanitize solution we provide in the rooms,
just spray them down and wipe them off with a
towel. You should do this once a week.
SKIN TYPE
Knowing your skin
type is the key to maximizing the protective
benefits of tanning indoors while minimizing the
risk of sunburn or skin damage.
Each of us is
born with a certain ability to produce melanin,
the protein that causes a tan appearance and
natural protection against too much UV light.
It is the amount of melanin that determines skin
type and the length of exposure that is best for
you.
The staff at Tan
‘N Tone may ask you questions regarding your
ability to tan in the past or your ancestral
background. This information is helpful in
determining the correct exposure time to avoid
overexposure and possible sunburn.
